ICM KICKS OFF HOLIDAY SEASON WITH 20TH ANNUAL FESTIVAL OF TREES

LEAGUE CITY- Interfaith Caring Ministries (ICM) held its 20th Annual Festival of Trees Fashion Show & Dinner on Dec. 5 at South Shore Harbour Resort and Conference Center(SSHR). The Festival of Trees, ICM’s largest fundraiser of the year, brought together close to 300 attendees to kick off the holiday season with this festive event. The gala featured a fashion show and dinner, live and silent auction and a mystery wine pull in the SSHR Crystal Ballroom, adorned with twinkling lights from trees decorated by volunteers from the community.

“The event was a great success,” said ICM’s Communications and Special Events Coordinator Haley Lusson. “At ICM we are thankful for the continued support from the community members and businesses that support this event each year, as well as the new faces that attended this year. So many people come together to make this event great.”

The event opened with a reception, including live entertainment by Hollywood musician Mark LeVang, followed by a fashion show where 11 models, styled by Anita’s Cut Above, displayed fashions by Stein Mart. Erin Webb from YourTownTV emceed the evening, which also included a moving client testimonial and a live auction officiated by League City Mayor Tim Paulissen. Also, there were close to 100 wreaths, all decorated by community members, sold in addition to the silent auction items. The night’s events were captured by Sandy Adams of Sandy Adam’s Photography. Photos from the event can be found on her Web site at www.sandy-adams.com/2013trees.

ICM is thankful for the sponsors, underwriters, and volunteers of the event. The League City Lions Club was a Gold Sponsor for the event and MRI Technologies and The Enos Law Firm were Silver Sponsors. Underwriters included Minute Man Press Bay Area, The Sign Shop, Hometown Bank, Texan Bank and The Enos Law Firm. Tree Sponsors included Magtech, Frank Toman- Allstate Insurance, Dr. David Gordon, DDS, Harbour Insurance, Cimarron, TechTrans International, Bay Creek Animal Clinic, Ryan Klibert- Edward Jones, the Law Offices of Neil Baron, Methodist Retirement Communities, Albemarle Foundation, Houston Pilots Association, Security National Mortgage, San Lorenzo Mexican Restaurant and Cantina, Moody National Bank, Houston Community Newspapers, Oiltanking Texas City, County Court-at-law 3 Judge Kerri Foley, and Mrs. Diana Robinson. Without support from them and community members, ICM would not be able to continue to assist neighbors in need in the Bay Area.

The beautiful trees, all decorated by ICM volunteers, will remain on display in the SSHR lobby throughout the holiday season. In addition to those trees, various local Bay Area businesses sponsor trees that adorn their lobbies.

The Festival of Trees committee chairs included Greg Enos, Chairman; Annette Snow Falks, Wreath Chair; Susan Bailey, Wine Pull Chair; Ryan Klibert, Tree Sponsor and Decorator Chair; and Terry Lynn Lange, Decorations and Favors Chair.

Proceeds from the event will benefit ICM’s ongoing services which assist local families who are in an economic crisis due to issues such as illness and unemployment. Agency services include: emergency rent and utility assistance to prevent homelessness; hunger prevention through an on-site pantry; childcare assistance for those furthering their education; a community computer lab for at-risk students and outreach for homebound senior citizens. Last year, with the community’s support, ICM was able to assist 8,902 Bay Area residents.

This year, Greg Enos, ICM’s Board of Directors Past President and Attorney at The Enos Law Firm, has committed to chair the event with great enthusiasm. Together, Enos and Haley Lusson, ICM’s new Communications and Special Events Coordinator, as well as other committee members, promise to make it an evening you won’t want to miss. The Festival of Trees committee chairs include Annette Snow Falks, Wreath Chair; Susan Bailey, Wine Pull Chair; Ryan Klibert, Tree Sponsor and Decorator Chair; and Terry Lynn Lange, Decorations and Favors Chair.

“Past & Presents” is the theme chosen for this year’s event, honoring the longstanding past community supporters and those involved with the Festival of Trees, all of which are incredible gifts to ICM. Mark LeVang

The Festival of Trees will feature a fashion show, dinner, live and silent auctions, a mystery wine pull and live music by Hollywood musician Mark LeVang. LeVang is multi-faceted recording keyboardist, musical director, and performer, having worked with artists including Elton John, Kid Rock, Jennifer Hudson, Colbie Caillat, Stevie Wonder and many more. He is the son of Neil Levang, a musician best known for his performances on The Lawrence Welk Show. For more information about LeVang, visit his Web site.

The Festival of Trees, ICM’s largest fundraiser of the year, is hoping to attract more than 300 community members and leaders from our community, but it can’t be a success without the generous support from others. There are many opportunities to get involved with this year’s event, including: sponsoring or underwriting the event, sponsoring a tree, decorating a tree, decorating a wreath to be sold, donating a silent or live auction item, donating a bottle of wine for the mystery wine pull, volunteering to help set up the event or purchasing a table or tickets to attend the event.
